Aliso Canyon
2000 - 2001
San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose, CA
"Kim Turos' site-specific, environmental installation was on view in SJMA's second floor Cathedral court, from December 15, 2000 through June 3rd, 2001. Described by the artist as a "three-dimension collage," the installation combined living, tropical foliage, large, organically shaped forms, The fecund pod-like shapes make reference to birth and metaphosis in nature. however, closer inspection reveals decaying urban elements. Cracked sections of roadway suggest civilization's increasing encroachment on nature and it's regenerative power to reclaim the earth."
